CABRADILLA, Kenneth
Kenneth Abe Cabradilla is an aspiring artist living and working in NYC. Born and
raised in Honolulu, Hawai‛i, Cabradilla moved to Arizona at the age of 16 to pursue an
interest in art and design. After attaining a degree in Graphic Design, he returned to
Hawai‛i to continue his artistic education at the University of Hawai‛i Mānoa. Cabradilla
soon transferred to New York City’s Hunter College in 1998 to earn a B.A. in Sculpting
and Art History.
This collection is Cabradilla’s first body of work titled, “Alluring Insecurity.” It is a
collection that emphasizes the battered relationship between the physical and mental
being. It explores one's negative view upon their physical outlook and the struggle to
embrace the beauty within. This collection is inspired by a subject he claims to know
best - himself. Fueled by self-criticism and inflicted by insecurity, the "Goddesses" serve
as a representation of strength and beauty that counteracts the hostility of judgment.
From each pose, color, couture and shape, each goddess exudes a message that
promotes dignity in oneself.
The outcome of each Goddess takes shape in the midst of creativity. Cabradilla’s
ideas are neither concrete nor clear. They are blurred images dancing in his head and
brought to life in sketch. It is in the moment when the organic motion of the hand is
guided by flashes of visual impulse where Cabradilla’s ideas flourish. Equipped with only
a simple concept, Cabradilla puts trust in the artistic process while building his collection.
“My work may be mundane to those who refuse to stop and take it all in, but to those who
stay in the flow and relish what I present to you, the moment can be gratifying. Enjoy!”
